Dragon lands |
Hello, fellow adventurers! I'm sure you've heard the news by now: World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is now live! This is the ninth expansion for our beloved game, and it brings us a whole new continent to explore, a new playable race and class combo, a new feature that lets us ride dragons, and much more. If you're as excited as I am, then read on to find out what awaits you in this epic expansion.
Discover the Dragon Isles
The Dragon Isles are the ancestral home of the dragonflights of Azeroth. They are a land of primordial magic and wonder, where elemental forces clash and ancient secrets lie hidden. The dragonflights have returned to their homeland to defend it from a mysterious threat that has awakened within. As an adventurer, you will join them in their quest to unravel the mysteries of the Dragon Isles and discover their long-forgotten history.
What kind of dracthyr evoker will you be? |
The Dragon Isles consist of five zones, each with its own theme and challenges:
- Thaldraszus: The seat of power for the Aspects and their flights. Here you will witness the majestic splendor of dragonkind and learn more about their role in Azeroth's history.
- Zin-Azshari: The sunken ruins of the ancient night elf capital. Here you will explore the dark secrets of Queen Azshara and her naga minions, who seek to reclaim their lost glory.
- Korthia: The hidden city of secrets. Here you will encounter mysterious factions that have been hiding in the shadows for millennia, such as the ethereals, the naaru, and the infinite dragonflight.
- Netherstorm: The shattered realm of chaos. Here you will brave the dangers of arcane storms and fel corruption, while facing off against enemies from beyond reality, such as demons, void lords, and old gods.
- Draconis Mons: The primordial heart of Azeroth. Here you will witness the birthplace of life on this world and tap into its raw power.
Each zone offers unique quests, dungeons, raids, world bosses, treasures, achievements, mounts, pets, and more. You will also be able to participate in new world events such as dragon invasions, elemental rifts, and timewalking scenarios.
Become a Dracthyr Evoker
One of the most exciting features of this expansion is the introduction of the dracthyr evokers, Worldof Warcraft's first-ever playable race-and-class combo. Dracthyr evokers are humanoid dragonkin who can freely switch between two forms: a humanoid visage that allows them to blend in with other races, and a fearsome draconic form that unleashes their full potential.
Dracthyr evokers were created by Neltharion the Earth-Warder, the former Aspect of the black dragonflight who later became Deathwing, the Destroyer. He infused mortal races with draconic essence, hoping to create an elite army of loyal servants. However, his plan backfired when some of his creations rebelled against him and escaped into hiding.
Now, after centuries of slumber, the dracthyr evokers are awakening to a new threat within the Dragon Isles. They seek to forge their own path in Azeroth, and willingly fight for either the Horde or the Alliance.
As a dracthyr evoker, you will start your journey in Forbidden Reach, a nature-claimed caldera lost to time. There you will learn how to use your abilities before venturing forth into the wider world.
Dracthyr evokers can choose between two specializations:
Devastation or Preservation.
Devastation specializes in mid-range combat with claws and fiery breath attacks, while Preservation focuses on healing and supporting allies with life-giving magic.
Dracthyr evokers can also empower their draconic abilities through magic charge-up mechanics that allow them to unleash powerful effects at critical moments. As a dracthyr evoker, you will also be able to customize both your humanoid and draconic forms with various options such as scales, horns, wings, tails, and more.

Master the Art of Dragonriding
Another amazing feature of this expansion is the ability to ride dragons!
Yes, you heard me right: you can now soar through the skies on your own personal dragon mount! But these are not just any ordinary mounts they have interesting dynamics inspired by ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 flying mounts. Of course, World of Warcraft adds their own spin but it's great seeing this in-game straight away.
