Hallow's End Woes
Since the start of his introduction into the game I have battled the Headless Horseman once a day during the Hallow's End holiday for a chance at his eerie mount. Two favored 'mains', one Alliance and the other Horde; both have tried for years to loot the mount. So far, nothing yet. These past two years I have built up quite a few alts and started to bring them as well to the holiday events. I don't mind if any one of them gets the mount. Yet at the risk of sounding dramatic I dare say the absolute worst RNG luck is seemingly haunting these toons. My casters/healer alts see strength or agility rings drop while my melee dps see the caster or healer rings.
There also seems to be interesting encounters with PUGS as I queue up for the daily try. For example having to endure unexplainable level 85 low DPS such as these folks:
The first damage dealer is just fine and the second on the chart is actually the tank. However, the actual second and third DPSer seem to have forgotten how to attack. Thinking that perhaps they were new to the encounter I told them via chat to switch to the head when it detaches as the body becomes immune to attack. I also moonspammed the head to show where it was and how it hovers about annoyingly. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to help any as you can see the final tally at the end of the fight.
Meanwhile I find myself having to put up with tanks that queue up but aren't actually tanks. For some reason these players believe it's funny to come in with grays or healer greens when they are clearly melee. Some like to turn off righteous defense or switch to unholy aura/berserker stance in the middle of the fight. Worse yet, there are Death Knights that start the event, summon an army of the dead on the boss, and then drop from the encounter. You can imagine just how frustrating this can be on a boss that has incredible cleave damage.
Low DPS can be attributed to many things. Auto-attacking or teleporting in and standing still while the battle goes on is just wrong. Coming in as a tank for a quick queue or to try and wipe the group or cause trouble is the worst kind of tool. If it's a thrill they get from doing this then I can only pity them. These bouts of obvious trolling is the kind of strange mentality which really goes over my head.
Apologies, I digress.
The mount, the elusive and very coveted mount! Sure, the Hallow's End event isn't simply about the mount. Never mind how cool and utterely fantastic it appears as it gallops through the sky --- (cringes a bit) --- it's about the fun to be had as well.
Blizzard worked hard to bring us new toys, quests, and a few fun non-RNG rewards. I should focus more on the entirety of the holiday and not just the Horse of Uber right? Absolutely. If anything, the feline familiar pet brings enough of a smile to this altoholic to temporarily forget that silly steed. At least, perhaps, for just a little bit. Hope your Hallow's End is full of fun and happy surprises!
Thanks for reading.
