Gold Guide: Glyph preparation for 4.01

Due to the 12-hour extended maintenance that is occurring on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010. The general speculation is that Patch 4.01 will be dropping. What does this mean exactly for glyphs?

1.) Glyphs will be learnt once.
2.) Glyphs will require three inks.
3.) Some glyphs will become Charred Glyphs.
4.) AHers that use QA3 or alike will be forced to change the way their glyphs are posted via addons due to a code change by Devs.

Let's get to the meat of the post. Glyphs will be learned once and therefore people will be buying only the glyphs that they will need. The existing glyphs that a player has at the moment will remain known. In theory then people will either buy all the glyphs they need or simply stick to the ones that are needed to function for their class. Our hope as AHers is that demand and the completionist players will continue to line our virtual pockets by purchasing all that is available to their class.

Charred Glyphs: Come this latest patch a lot of the glyphs will be be 'erased'. Their only value will be in vendoring them for 50 silver. Expect to see seedy AHers attempting to make profit off of ignorance via selling charred glyphs for hefty prices.

Broken Addons: Due to the new coding added by Blizzard to change the way addons interact with the AH alot of the addons will be broken. Auctioneer and QA3 will not work as you remembered. We will no longer be able to sell in batches and the queue system for QA3 will not automatically cancel auctions that have been undercut. However, Zerotorescue, the creator of QA addon has posted a fix to prevent that particular addon from hanging at the screen. Currently there is no news of Auctioneer having a fix for their addon.

Apart from that the demand should be quite high come patch day. Be prepared to be sold out of stock and fast. Keep in mind that mats cost will be even higher than before. Don't forget to charge for the extra work of posting your glyphs with broken addons as well. Happy AHing!
